First off this vacuum was given to my wife as a gift. So I can't really say if it's with buying but I can tell you it's with using. I feel that it sweeps great and works well in open areas as well as cleaning under Furniture. It also a great way to great multi task; you just it on and let it go and then you and do something else. Cleans great on carpet and hard floors. There are some down sides to this vacuum. It takes a long to sweep and it always seems to miss something on the floor. It would be a lot faster to use a normal plug in vacuum to sweep and a lot of times you will have to go back and sweep places that the vacuum missed. But still it's cool to say I have a robot that cleans.
So all in all if you get this vacuum as a gift I think you will like it. If you buy it I don't think you will feel that you're getting your moneys worth.

I got these stripes today and checked them out immediately. I had hoped for a heavier, more flexible material with a rubber sole beneath, which would adjust itself through it's own weight and the rubber adherence on the floor: that would have been a simple, effective and really mobile solution.
But ufortunately they are quite lightweight with just adhesive strips beneath, which didn't even last a minute on my hard floor:
At the first contact with my roomba they loosened and at the second contact they lost their grip totally, so that the roomba at one time pushed them aside and run directly into the "protected" area (whereas one stripe clung to the roomba) and the other time it simply drove over them i a quite fast pace.
So, without attaching the stripes they don't work and the adhesive strips don't last more than a minute. That is really a pitty. On the other hand the customer service is extremely good and friendly and the keep- off mat works just fine. Therefore 3 stars ....

Infinuvo QQ-1 CleanMate 365-Intelligent Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Red Review

I was a little apprehensive when I first decided to purchase a robotic vac, since I had never used anything like it before. I came up with a thousand reasons in my mind why it might be money down the toilet. However, I am happy to say that essentially the vacuum performs as well as could be expected.
WORD OF CAUTION: This vac DOES NOT perform well on sculpted carpet-even if it has a short nap! I could see how it would have difficulties on carpet that has any real height to the nap at all. For somebody with wood or tile floors this thing is a dream!
Pros:
*Reusable, washable filters (3).
*Easy to operate.
*Wide variety of cleaning modes that work well.
*UV light option for disinfecting (although I wonder how well that really works).
*Compartment for adding scent packet (manual states that dryer sheet can be used as well).
*Remote.
*Easy clean removable brush and removable wheel compartments to clean out stuff that inevitably will collect there.
*Picks up pet hair and dust GREAT!
*Beeps to let you know that it is stuck or the battery has gotten low and automatically shuts down.
*Price
Cons:
*Only runs for about 80 minutes at a time on a full charge- takes about 2 1/2 hours to charge back up.
*Just doesn't work as well on carpets as wood or tile.(Gets stuck a lot easier around furniture on the carpet)Overall a great robot vac for the money. I find it rivals some of the more expensive brands features, without the jump in price. Bought this one to see how robotic vacs will really get the job done. Will probably bump up to model with longer battery life and charging dock, that can be programmed to vacuum on a schedule. I guess the next purchase will be the robotic lawn mower for the yard...

I have had Roomba's for years... They do require a little maintenance (Brush cleaning, cleaning the pet hair from the ends of the rollers) but overall they are pretty great. Cleaning the brushes is no big deal, I do it when I empty the bin. It takes a minute or two to empty the bin and clean the brushes, and it's ready to go.
We have two pugs, and they shed constantly. The 500 series Roomba's are a pretty huge improvement in design (I am a mechanical design engineer) They have redesigned the roomba to make everything modular, so if something does wear out, it is very easy to replace. My old Roomba was the first model with the scheduling ability, and I did have to replace a few things. I had to replace some transmission parts, and the batteries. Of course, I had to replace the brushes and filters many times over the years. I upgraded the batteries to give it more time to vaccuum, but the 550 seems to be pretty great right out of the box. It can run for almost two hours sometimes, depending on how big the space is I want it to vaccuum. It is also much easier to program than the old Roomba, it took just a couple of minutes and you program it right on the Roomba itself.
The Roomba 550 is also much quieter than the old Roomba was... MUCH QUIETER! It slows down before it bumps into things and the vaccuum itself is not bad. That was the biggest improvement I saw initially, with battery life and ease of replacing parts coming in right after that... (It's nice that the parts are easier to replace, time will tell how useful that is... Hopefully, it won't need much beyond brushes and filters. :-0 )
The virtual walls are also improved... They only take 2 C cell batteries, and the batteries seem to last longer. On my old Roomba, you had to schedule the virtual walls as well as the Roomba using the remote, and it was a little clunky. The new virtual walls don't require any programming. The only thing that has ever malfunctioned with the virtual walls is the dogs have apparently played with them and they occasionally are not pointing in the right direction... It is also not as obvious as they used to be regarding which side is the front... I have found the roomba cleaning the room I wanted it to stay out of because the Virtual wall was aimed at the doorjam instead of across the doorway; apparently it got kicked and whoever set it back got it backwards.
The Roomba 550 is $250 at Costco, and if the thing does ever break, you can return it to Costco for a replacement or your money back. (One of the little perks of membership, if you are not satisfied they will take it back fairly indefinitely...):-)
That is the primary focus of this review... Why would you pay over $315 with shipping plus tax at whatever your states rate is?
I think the Roomba is a pretty cool little device, and I recommend that people who want to keep their house vaccuumed all the time buy it... But I would recommend buying it at Costco.

With its enhanced design, including improved navigation, coverage, pickup, and filtration, this vacuum-cleaning robot makes it easier then ever to clean floors throughout the house--hands free. Simply press the "clean" button & the unit will vacuum the whole floor on its own, adjusting automatically to any floor surface including wood, tile, linoleum, rugs, and carpet. The vacuum's dual,high-speed,counter-rotating brushes pick up everything from tracked-in dirt by the front door to food crumbs on the kitchen floor to pet hair throughout the house. It also provides anti-tangle technology with auto reverse, innovative spinning side brushes to ensure thorough cleaning in corners and along baseboards,& a gentle-touch bumper that senses obstacles so that it can slow down and carefully clean around them. The unit's dirt sensor will direct the cleaning time & focus where it's needed most, and its low-profile design means easy cleaning under beds, couches, & other hard-to-reach areas. Another thoughtful detail includes its ability to schedule preset cleaning times--great for coming home to a clean house after a long day at the office. Even more, the cleaner comes with built-in cliff sensors that prevent it from falling down stairs and a Virtual Wall system, which allows for setting up invisible barriers that confine the unit to a designated area. The vacuum's large dustbin empties easily, and its improved filtration system traps dust, pollen,& other allergens, helping to ensure only clean air gets released back into the room. For added convenience, the vacuuming robot automatically returns to its self-charging Home Base to dock & recharge between cleaning cycles or when the battery starts to run low. Accessories include a bumper extension,a brush cleaning tool,a power adapter,a rechargeable battery,2 extra filters,2 Virtual Wall Lighthouses,& 2 Extra Bristle Brushes & 4 "C" batteries for the Virtual Walls. Neato XV-11 All Floor Robotic Vacuum System Review

Neato XV-11 All Floor Robotic Vacuum System

I really like this robotic vacuum. It cleans a ridiculous amount of pet hair and dust from my carpet! I used a Roomba, which was fairly good but the drawback was it couldn't navigate to other rooms and back as well as the Neato does. The other drawback was it couldn't figure out how to get onto area carpets without the spinning brush on the front getting stuck. For the Neato, this is no problem at all. Instead of bouncing all around looking for light houses it will detect doorways and move from room to room in a more logical fashion.
The suction and cleaning ability is amazing. I would place the suction power closer to an actual upright vacuum. The noise level is a bit quieter than an upright and maybe a little louder than the whine of a Roomba. There is significantly less bumping, which overall, makes the Neato quieter. It still bumps into things (mostly table legs) from time to time but nowhere near as hard or as frequent.
Battery life is adequate. About an hour to 90 minutes I've seen. I have several large rooms for it to work on and it doesn't do them both in a single charge. The nice thing about the Neato is it will recharge itself (2-3 hours) when the battery runs out then it will resume exactly where it left off to complete the job.
Coverage is very good. It does seem to miss very small parts of the room but nothing major. I have debris from a litter box for it to clean up and it does get nearly every single scrap that comes out. I have it scheduled to run nightly and it picks up way more dust and fur than the Roomba.
If you don't want the Neato to go somewhere your only choice is to close the door or place down a black magnetic strip. Very ugly compared to Roomba's lighthouse solution.
Another thing to mention is there is no option for it to clean a small area. It has to do the entire job.
I've taken a star off because the customer service is HORRIBLE. Mine was broken from day one due to a known defect (the battery is buzzing and not charging when connecting to the dock). I spent FIVE days and FIVE CALLS on the phone with customer support and it got me NOWHERE. First they said they'd give me a next day shipping label which sounded reasonable. That never came. After more and more calls getting nowhere they then wanted me to ship it ground and CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD AGAIN FOR ANOTHER ROBOT??? Again, I still don't know if I would ever get a shipping label. Truly frustrating.
