Halo 3290 UV-ST Ultraviolet Vacuum Review

I purchased this machine after seeing an add on TV. I got the machine home, and was actually excited about vacuuming. The UV light on the vacuum seemed to do a good job at destroying all the dust mites in my carpet. I have to say it looks very cheap, and doesn't look very durable. Within a month and half of receiving this machine, I began to have problems with UV light. It would turn on sometimes, and sometimes it would not come on at all. Finally it stopped working all together.
I was able to find a local repair shop who is a warranty station for Halo vacuums. I dropped it off over 3 weeks ago, and the owner of the shop keeps telling me he is waiting on the part. This is very frustrating as I know have to go back to my ultra-heavy 15 year old Kirby which I kept only for the basement.
My experience with this Halo has been the vacuum is great when it is working, but the service after the sale has left a lot to be desired.

Equipped with ultraviolet-light technology, this full-size vacuum cleaner kills potentially dangerous micro-organisms and pathogens living--and reproducing--unseen, in carpets, mattresses, and other home fabrics. Germicidal ultraviolet light, or UV-C light, provides the most effective way to eradicate unseen and unwanted pests without the use of chemicals. Simply run the unit over carpets like with a normal vacuum, then activate the UV-C bulb with the trigger on the handle to instantly and safely deactivate the DNA of dust mites, viruses, bacteria, fleas, lice, and mold. The unit also provides HEPA filtration, which removes 99.97 percent of harmful particles from the air, plus an odor-reducing carbon filter to keep the air fresh.
Furthermore, the vacuum cleaner offers energy-efficient operation thanks to two strategically placed motors: one to generate powerful suction and one to drive the brush bar. Because of this dual-motor design, using the brush bar does not compromise the vacuum's performance. The motor generating the powerful suction provides 35,000 RPMs and the dedicated, strong brush-bar motor spins at 5,000 RPMs. For above-floor cleaning, a 13-foot detachable hose, crevice tool, and dusting brush come included for cleaning stairs, furniture, and fabrics. Other highlights include five different height levels for various types of floors--from carpet and rugs to tile and wood, a 31-foot power cord, and a lightweight design at less than 17 pounds for easy maneuverability. Four dust bags come included. The vacuum cleaner, with its powerful suction and germicidal action, measures approximately 14 by 12 by 45 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Electrolux Home Care 1934A The Boss Upright Vacuum Review

I just moved into an apartment with a new synthetic carpet that sheds like a pack of afghan hounds; it choked my bagless vacuum in under a minute. I needed a sturdy, no-frills, bagged vacuum like the Montgomery Ward upright I used for over 20 years before it died.
This model was almost identical, and now that I've had it for a few weeks, I'm happy as a clam. It has an old-fashioned rotating brush/beater roller, 5 carpet height adjustments, great suction for 5 amps, and comes pre-fitted with a humongous disposable liner bag (type F&G), plus a spare belt for the roller. Some parts that used to be steel have been replaced with thick plastic, but it seems plenty sturdy, and it's much lighter to maneuver and carry than my old all-steel model. The on/off button and lock/unlock for the handle are both on the base, so they're foot controls; carpet height is adjusted by a dial on the front of the base. The long cord (20 feet or so) doesn't retract, you just wind it over hooks on the handle. The spring-attached fabric bag has a full-length zipper, inside which the disposable bag (which fills the cover from end to end) slides on with another spring. Quick, simple.
One pass with this puppy picked up enough carpet fluff missed by the bagless to knit a throw rug, but there's still plenty of room left for future dirt. It's also a lot less noisy than my smaller bagless. The only qualm I had in buying this was the lack of attachments for cleaning upholstery & suchlike, but I found an inexpensive accessory kit made for it (crevice tool, round dust brush, upholstery brush, extension tubes, looooong flexible hose) right here on Amazon: the "Electrolux Home Care 60E 6-Piece Deluxe Tool Set," so my joy is complete.
Though the image on this page looks rather green, the vacuum is actually jet black, and the bag is a black-white-red random print. It comes in a flat box, minor assembly required. Highly recommended for those who remember how good the old vacuums were, don't want to spend a fortune just to clean their carpets, or are into retro styling.

Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum, Bagged, U5140-900 Review

This is not the product you think it is. The picture and schematic for this item are both WRONG. Hoover has changed the product but left the model number the same. The new revised unit is not the same old beloved vacuum to which all the reviews prior to 2010 are referring. This version is a cheap imitation of the former. This "revised" model features:
- NO Headlight
- NO Bag Indicator
- NO hose coupling dust cover
- CHEAPER plastic
- CHEAPER carpet brush
- CHEAPER hose
- SHODDIER construction
- INCORRECT user manual
It still has the same amount of suction but because of the cheaper brush it doesn't really get down into the carpet like the old one. It just glides on top over the carpet. The cheaper hose is a real problem, because if you ever suffer the misfortune of kinking the hose once you will never get it un-kinked again. The lack of headlight is not a big deal, but the picture shows it has one and some people may need this feature. The missing bag indicator means you have to keep stopping and checking the bag to see if it's full. The plastic parts are made from a cheaper flimsy plastic. This makes the unit lightweight but it also means not everything fits together properly, for instance several of the attachments are misshapen. The old unit used to have a dust cover so when you used the hose it would not spew dust into the room (because the brush keeps turning). The "revised" model has no dust cover so you better get ready for a face full of dirt if you pull the hose out over a dusty area. The general construction of the unit is sub-par compared to the old version. In fact, the user manual is still from the old version, meaning the assembly instructions are incorrect for the revised version. You will have to figure out for yourself where to route the power cord on the rear of the chassis.
The vacuum does still work, has strong suction, and works well on carpet if you put it on the lowest height and really dig into the carpet. But you can probably find something better for your money. And Amazon should update their product photos!

I purchased a Hoover "Tempo": [[ASIN:B0009ONZ8G Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum], and it needs belts periodically...'heard they're a bit of trouble to lay hands on locally, so I 'stocked-up' on Amazon.
The product "Number" 40201160 is a bit confusing, and the description should be made to denote that product "Number" 40201160 is Hoover's product number for a PACKAGE OF TWO 38528-033 or 38528033, belts.
Having received shipment, and confirming that these were the exact replacement item, I have to say that this is a 'no-brainer' with Amazon's offer for free shipping.
